Pros & Cons

  • Supportive colleagues and learning new things everyday
  • Having flexibility with only two days required in the office. Very good workplace culture, people are polite. No forced overtime, decent workload. Freedom to take leave when needed and not made to feel bad about it. Good employee value proposition with Flare benefits. Changing rooms on bottom floor if you want to have a shower and change clothes at work.
  • The best thing about working at Cenitex is the company values. In my five months within the company, I felt like I could count on my team members and other people within the organisation. They always push us to collaborate and come with ideas together. I always felt heard, supported and respected. Cenitex also supports multiple streams, such as gender equality and reconciliation stream, providing multiple groups including Social Club, I never left out or not included at Cenitex.
  • Awesome work-life balance. Super supportive and kind co-workers.
  • Flexible working arrangements, coworkers are very understanding of commitments outside of work.
  • The worst thing about Cenitex is getting confused by the departments. I have never work within the government or knew much about the different departments within Victoria before so having customers within a government body was a big change as each department has different services that we provide.
  • Lack of technical capabilities in application development.
  • Rotation program is not helpful if you know what you want to do. The compensation may not match the value you bring to the company.
  • Starting salary (little low)
  • It takes time to get familiar with all the systems used in different teams. You also need time to understand the organisation structure as one process may involve a few teams at the same time.

As a graduate, I got treated as one of their own. They provided me support, would answer my questions and I got exposed to actually being hands on within the team. In my fourth month, I was already part of the schedule and had responsibilities. At Cenitex I did not feel like there was any sort of limits for learning and getting work done, if the team felt like I was ready to do a certain task they would allow me to do it and trust me with it. This allowed me to grow and securing a permanent position in the team as a Cyber Security Analyst.

The streams are a huge part of this. I am currently in the gender stream and the reconciliation stream. I have attended events with the Cenitex reconciliation stream group during NAIDOC week to learn more about the culture and history of Aboriginal people.

Culture

Culture
The company's culture is one of my favorite things. The work type is hybrid which means from home some days and at the office with the team the other days. The team is always together and friendly. If you are having problems with a task or the workload in too much, other team members are open to help. The structure is good to understand responsibilities, but people are humble and open to teach things. My team have lunches together every time we are at the office, and Social Club, part of Cenitex, I have done social activities after hours.

Diversity

Diversity
The organisation provides streams, and each stream has action plans during the year to achieve certain outcomes. Disability streams, gender stream, LGBTQ+ stream and some others. They provide for people to come together and share opinions on how to improve the community. Being a woman in a mainly predominant man environment, I never felt disrespected, left out or with lack of opportunities.

My manager is an amazing lady and an awesome mentor who gave me advice on my business analyst career as well as my personal life. We have regular catch ups every fortnight.

The office facilities are incredible. They provide showers, bike racks, and lockers downstairs if you want to cycle to work. The upstairs facilities are good as well, there are multiple floors. I normally sit close to my team, but there is a kitchen and bathroom at every floor. Small meeting rooms are always available for booking if you need to take a private meeting or a test. There are tables sit-to-stand and normal ones, and there are tables called "quiet zones" if you want to be in a quieter space.

There was an introductory recorded video. Maybe a psychometric assessment. And then the final assessment day interview. This was done in a group setting online. Was a very nice touch for the hiring team to send out a little tea set to all those who made it to the final day. Was a nice way to show appreciation for everyone's time invested into the process.

A little bit low compared to other IT companies, but it comes with a better work-life balance.

I am really impressed with the company's training opportunities. Since I have been in the company, they have sponsored me to be part of the AWSN - Security Pathways programs, which include Comptia Security + training and ISC2. I have attained a certification for ITIL 4 Foundation sponsored by them and currently doing training for SC - 900. I have also completed training for vendors and tools we use and attended multiple workshops/classes.

It is very flexible. You are required to work from the office two days which I tried to go the same dates as my team, however if sometimes those days are going to be part regarding with my personal life, I go in another day in the week. I always work from 9am to 5pm, but it is open for discussion to talk with your manager regarding starting a bit later and finishing a bit later.

I'm actually not sure. I have seen quite a few recycling bins around, so there's that. There's even a bin for collecting soft plastics which I wonder how that works given that the RedCycle program has shut down. But I haven't seen the company do anything horrible in regards to the environment.
