How flexible is your company when it comes to hours?
Work hours is to be expected as part of the big 4 working culture. Hours can get hectic during tax season

normal day is 7.5, however often longer during busy season

Because I'm in a client consulting business there is a lot of variation in work hours, with some periods being super busy and some periods being very light, so it sort of all nets out. If you work a week with lots of late nights, normally they're fine with you clocking off a bit early on the friday to make up for it.

Company is flexible with working start and finish times with a 3 day min working in office policy. There is an underlying trend of long work days from all levels of the firm.

Very flexible and have not had to stay back much.
Graduate, Melbourne - 07 Aug 2024
Flexible, but my team froths over visibility and therefore puts those who come in often on a pedestal - whether or not they bring in/do good work

The company flexibility is one of the best things about working here. There was no limit on the number of days individuals could work from home. This was slightly problematic for some teams where people would abuse this degree of flexibility and never come in, which can diminish the overall culture of the team. However, our team has a generally good culture, meaning almost all team members come into the office on our allocated days, which creates a good social vibe. For FY25, leadership from the Consulting division have introduced a 3 days a week requirement. However, this requirement is flexible, and is more of a general expectation than a strict rule. I personally, think the company strikes the balance between in-office and WFH very well.

The amount of time is office sometimes can be high, but overall, for someone starting their career the office hour expectations are nothing out of the ordinary and are very standard 9-5 most days.

I often work more than 7.5 hours.

It depends what area in the company you work in, but generally the company is very flexible with working arrangements, including WFH vs working from the office.

KPMG has a hybrid working environment and is extremely flexible with the work hours.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Nov 2023
It is flexible, though working outside of paid hours seems to be implicit.
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Nov 2023
I like the flexibility of WFH and being in office/client. Would be better if we weren't expected to be at client as often
Graduate, Adelaide - 08 Nov 2023
Fairly flexible, although an expectation to work overtime with no additional pay and the onus is on the employee to take the time back. IF you need to go to an appt here or there they are very flexible, provided you work your allotted hours and do the work.

The amount of unpaid overtime that this firm will tolerate is crazy. I can foresee legal issues for them in the future similar to some of the cases in the courts at the moment.
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Nov 2023
8.30-5 usually - flexible with hours as long as the work is getting done.
Graduate, Perth - 08 Nov 2023
3 days in office is encouraged. Very flexible.
Graduate, Adelaide - 06 Nov 2023
Flexible depending on client demand
