About KPMG Law

KPMG Law focuses on bringing together multidisciplinary teams with deep local and international experience to tackle our clients’ most challenging problems. With access to some of the world’s leading subject matter experts on key issues such as regulation, audit, tax and international transactions, our people bring a holistic and integrated approach to projects.

We work with clients across multiple sectors including real estate, media, telecommunications, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, energy and resources, aerospace and defence, financial services, private equity, sports and entertainment and retail sectors.

About our Graduate Program

Our graduate program will give you first-hand experience of how laws and standards are applied in a range of real situations. Suitable for you if you’ve recently graduated or in your final year of study. This 12-month, full-time development program will support you to build your business acumen through role-specific learning.

You will be an integral part of a focused and cohesive team and gain experience working on engagements with other KPMG service lines. The work you’ll do will vary from reviewing and drafting documents, researching different areas of the law and providing support to senior team members. From day one you’ll be challenged to think about advice for clients from both a legal and commercial perspective.

Next steps

Our recruitment process will follow the Law Society of Victoria timelines:

  • Applications open on 11 August 2022
  • Applications close on 24 August 2022

To start your application, simply complete the online application form and submit your CV. If eligible, you will be asked to complete online testing and a video interview. Finally, if successful, you’ll be invited to attend an interview.

Pros and cons of working at KPMG Australia

Pros

  • Lots of other grads so plenty of social opportunities with people your age.

  • The flexibility of work-from-home vs in-office is terrific.

  • The team I have joined have been very welcoming, and the expectations are very reasonable.

  • Good on-the-job learning and exposure to a variety of clients.

  • The experience provided and the reputation of the firm's talent in the external market.

Cons

    • There is an underlying trend of long work days from all levels of the firm.

    • You are dependent on the market swings; you can go a few weeks or months without meaningful work or be extremely busy.

    • Promotion appears to be locked in to tenure, i.e. one year, two years, not based on performance or knowledge.

    • Virtual Graduate Program learning is unengaging.

    • You are dependent on the market swings; you can go a few weeks or months without meaningful work or be extremely busy.
