This short introductory skills-building program is for all students – whatever your degree and whether you’re pretty clear on your path or still open to new career ideas.

The program is set over one half-day in-person plus a short virtual get-to-know-KPMG session prior. It’s all about you exploring careers, gathering great ideas, and building professional skills.

What you’ll do:

  • Workshops to build key skills for starting your career, like networking, interviewing and presenting yourself in-person and online.
  • Meet experts from a range of KPMG services.
  • Network with experts and graduates who’ve started their career at KPMG.
  • Learn about the types of work our teams do.

Benefits:

  • Build ideas for your career: We know work is changing. Not just how we do it but what the work of the future will actually look like. From climate change to corporate tax and auditing to AI, we have teams working on all sorts of challenges with all sorts of clients to deliver solutions fit for the future.
  • Meet experts in a range of fields: Hear about the work they do and how they’ve built their experience.
  • Meet graduates: students who’ve just graduated and entered straight into a career with us can share their thoughts on how they landed on their career choice and what they see in store for themselves.
  • Learn key career skills: writing a standout CV, how to prepare for an interview, presenting yourself, and online networking.

Pros and cons of working at KPMG Australia

Pros

  • Lots of other grads so plenty of social opportunities with people your age.

  • The flexibility of work-from-home vs in-office is terrific.

  • The team I have joined have been very welcoming, and the expectations are very reasonable.

  • Good on-the-job learning and exposure to a variety of clients.

  • The experience provided and the reputation of the firm's talent in the external market.

Cons

    • There is an underlying trend of long work days from all levels of the firm.

    • You are dependent on the market swings; you can go a few weeks or months without meaningful work or be extremely busy.

    • Promotion appears to be locked in to tenure, i.e. one year, two years, not based on performance or knowledge.

    • Virtual Graduate Program learning is unengaging.

    • You are dependent on the market swings; you can go a few weeks or months without meaningful work or be extremely busy.
