Where could your degree take you?

We're interested in you and your unique experiences and perspectives, not just your academic record or qualification. Regardless of your background, we’re dedicated to helping you grow your career and thrive with us.

Explore our different career pathways to see where your interests could fit:

Audit & Assurance

In Audit & Assurance, you could be involved in analysing the impact of new accounting standards for a community service organisation or streamlining a company’s financial reporting through automation. For Grads joining our Audit, Assurance & Risk Consulting division (AARC), you will have the opportunity to rotate into a different service line in AARC within the first two years of your career.

Engineering

In Engineering, you could be setting up a project management office from scratch or assessing the end-to-end capabilities of a solar farm! You will get to work with a diverse team that includes engineers, scientists, and architects who use their skills to solve complex asset management and business-related problems across multiple sectors like water, power, transport, and defence.

Finance Consulting

In Finance Consulting, you will learn how to identify acquisition opportunities for major Australian corporations. You could also be involved in planning an organisation’s finance division structure.

Risk

Managing risk is about creating value by viewing risk management as a lever for enhancing innovation, building credibility, and achieving sustainable growth. In Risk, you could see yourself digging deeper into how to model data to predict the likelihood of events and use forensic technology to identify risks in supply chains.

Strategy & Operations

Our Strategy, Growth & Digital practice provides a variety of services and technical capabilities designed to assist organisations to address and successfully overcome these challenges. You could spend your day helping clients align their corporate reputation and core purposes or advise the government on which social infrastructure projects they should invest in.

Tax & Legal

In Tax, we advise our clients on how to best execute business strategies, projects, and transactions in a tax-appropriate manner. This can include advising on the tax implications arising from large transactions such as private equity deals, real estate transactions and infrastructure deals. In Tax & Legal, you could have the opportunity to explore the tax implications of a company’s initial public offering or resolve a tax dispute with the ATO for a client.

Technology & Digital

If you believe that technology improves lives, this is the area for you! In Technology & Digital, you could help track koala movements to improve their conservation or discover new technology that benefits your community.

Pros and cons of working at KPMG Australia

Pros

  • Lots of other grads so plenty of social opportunities with people your age.

  • The flexibility of work-from-home vs in-office is terrific.

  • The team I have joined have been very welcoming, and the expectations are very reasonable.

  • Good on-the-job learning and exposure to a variety of clients.

  • The experience provided and the reputation of the firm's talent in the external market.

Cons

    • There is an underlying trend of long work days from all levels of the firm.

    • You are dependent on the market swings; you can go a few weeks or months without meaningful work or be extremely busy.

    • Promotion appears to be locked in to tenure, i.e. one year, two years, not based on performance or knowledge.

    • Virtual Graduate Program learning is unengaging.

    • You are dependent on the market swings; you can go a few weeks or months without meaningful work or be extremely busy.
