The Lab Network Graduate Programs & Internships

  • Technology

The Lab has been running since 2011 and has grown from a single venue to currently 35 locations around Australia. The Lab offers a strengths-based program for autistic young people who often experience significant social and vocational disadvantages through challenges in making social and friendship connections. The Lab offers opportunities for social experiences while doing what participants love doing, playing games and developing tech skills.
The Lab offers mentors the opportunity to develop their professional practice, tech skills and interpersonal communications experience in a fun and positive environment while providing a great community benefit.

Recruitment Process

Mentors have a wide range of experience with popular video and tabletop games, games development, coding, artwork, video or digital media in a variety of areas.
There are several Lab venues around Sydney so please let us know where you are located. The National Coordinator follow up to arrange a time to speak on the phone. Not all Labs have vacancies at all times so we may have to keep your details on file for when a position becomes available. The Lab Network also runs a Lab Online program and this is another opportunity for new mentors.

Remuneration & Career Growth

Please note that The Lab is a part-time activity and the pay is commensurate with limited hours every week during school term dates. Lab sessions are often on Saturday morning or weekday afternoons after school from 4.30pm.
We currently have a network of around 90 mentors nationally who can provide support based on many years experience in sessions. We find that mentors tend to stay with The Lab for many years given it's a great part-time job, lots of fun and provides great value to the lives of talented young people.
