Pratham is best known as India's largest NGO for spreading literacy amongst disadvantaged children in India, with the belief that education is the first step out of poverty. Pratham AUS is the Australian chapter of Pratham.
Pratham is different to other NGOs focused on improving the lives of others less fortunate by spreading literacy. It is completely secular and non-political in its practices and relies heavily on volunteers and is solely volunteer-run in Australia.
Prospective candidates will have a desire to improve the lives of children in India with a particular focus on improving educational outcomes for young girls in India.
There will be 2 steps in the recruitment process for Pratham AUS volunteers:
Candidates should outline in a brief cover letter what interests them in volunteering with Pratham AUS and attach a CV.
Successful applicants will have a strong sense of social responsibility, and a commitment to help Pratham AUS achieve its ongoing awareness and fundraising objectives in Australia.
Successful applicants will have the capacity to volunteer 5-10 hours a month. This can be flexible in nature.
From a practical standpoint, having the following skills and experience will be a benefit, or a strong desire to learn these skills volunteering with Pratham AUS.
No remuneration for opportunities but an opportunity to hone website design and maintenance skills using tools such as Wix and to give back to society.
