Port City Bowling Club, established in 1937 in response to local residents' requests, has evolved into a cornerstone of Port Macquarie's community. The initial green and clubhouse were developed for £470 ($940), leading to the club's formal establishment on December 16, 1937. Since then, the club has experienced significant growth, expanding its facilities with additional greens and welcoming diverse membership, including the formation of the Women's Bowling Club in 1954. Notably, the club adapted to legislative changes in 1972, becoming incorporated as Port Macquarie Bowling Club Limited. Over the years, it has not only thrived as a lawn bowling destination but has also embraced diversification, introducing poker machines in 1950, now boasting over one hundred and forty machines.

Port City Bowling Club stands as a testament to its rich history and adaptive spirit, transitioning from a men-only club to a vibrant and inclusive community hub. The club's commitment to providing recreational and entertainment opportunities is underscored by its continuous expansion and incorporation as a company. Today, it remains a cherished establishment, offering not only top-notch bowling facilities but also a diverse range of entertainment options, ensuring its place as a central gathering point for the people of Port Macquarie.
