Training & Personal Development at Nous Group

All new employees undergo a rigorous training program called Ready Set Go. You are assigned a "buddy" and "performance coach" who will assist with your goals and development. There are many "savvy sessions" per week where someone in the company will do a presentation on current work or trends, and how one may self-develop. You also have access to many programs to upskill, including DataCamp and Linkedin Learning.

This was hard to rate: I think the trainings were good but were predominantly online and I think would have benefitted greatly from being in person. In terms of on the job training, it's fantastic. Our intranet and IP is great and there is so much to learn.

We have an induction which introduces us to working at Nous as a consultant - then we are thrown on our first project where we are supported to learn on the job. The support you get at Nous is superb - if you ever need any help with anything, people are willing to help you as long as you aren't busy.

The company invests heavily in training. The induction scheme is very comprehensive and involves a 3-4 week program with presentations made by senior company people across the firm.

2 weeks of induction with a mixture of modules and in person tasks.

The company flies each graduate cohort across the country to Melbourne for training, which is a great experience. Every 6 months the company takes 2 days off for company-wide and professional development. This is a great way to connect with colleagues around the country.

We had a great induction program with some general introduction to Nous combined with a trip to Melbourne that saw us go through consulting foundations and a case study.

Training and developing programmes and opportunities at Nous are great. I have developed a lot of skills around client presentation, analytical thinking and data analysis.

Onboarding training takes about 2-3 weeks and covers all of Nous' internal systems, processes and how to become a consultant. Nous also has lots of online learning, including 'savvy sessions' which are pre-recorded online meetings that you can watch to learn about a sector or skill. There are plenty of links to linked-in learning and other online courses to upskill in various skills.

I feel like our training is often completed too late, making some of the lessons learned redundant or letting bad habits form for a while before the formal training is given.

Mostly on the job training, and some formal training in specific consulting skills.

I have not done much training yet. We get a big week of training at Induction when we first start which is excellent (if a little full on). There are then short training sessions run sporadically throughout the year which everyone can attend. Nous has a great attitude around professional development though. If there is some skill you particularly want to build, you just need to discuss with your mentor and there would be few barriers to this I expect. In quiet times, we are actively encouraged to seek out development opportunities.

Nous takes the 70/20/10 training, so a lot of the training is more informal and on the job. In saying that, there is still lots of opportunities for more formal professional development. 1 week induction training introducing Nous and consulting skills. Facilitation training. Data analytics training. Project management training.
