Nous is a great place to work…

Nous Group (Nous) is a leading Australian owned management consulting and leadership development firm. We are a values-based organisation that partners with clients to solve society’s most complex and demanding problems. We work with leading ASX companies, government and not for profit organisations in Australia and we are growing internationally.

Nous is recognised as Australia’s top workplace, ranking first in the 2021 Great Places to Work Awards and was also awarded ‘Best Management Consulting Firm, Australia’ in the 2017 Australian Financial Review Client Choice Awards.

We are seeking a Project Finance Officer to support the efficient and effective management of Nous’ consulting projects. Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with project teams across Australia, this role is part of Nous’ global Finance Team (c. 20 people) and will report to the Finance Operations Manager (also based in Melbourne).

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who would like to enhance their financial support skills, while working collaboratively with project teams.  While desire for progression to an accounting career is not necessary, this role provides excellent knowledge development for an Assistant Accountant role as it ensures a thorough understanding of project accounting information.

This is a permanent full-time role, and involves a flexible mix of working time in Nous’ Melbourne office and working from home.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with project teams to accurately and efficiently set up consulting projects in Kimble (a project management system on the Salesforce platform) including establishment of project milestones, invoicing formats and expense forecasting
  • Review draft project invoicing against client contracts and approve invoices for distribution to clients
  • Trouble-shoot and resolve project team queries, supported by the Finance Team and Kimble external support where relevant
  • Work with accountants in the Finance Team to resolve financial queries related to projects

And the practical experience and skills required:

  • Tertiary finance/accounting qualifications or significant experience in finance administration
  • Experience with medium/large CRM or project management systems - in particular, experience with Salesforce and/or Kimble or similar systems would be highly regarded
  • Committed to efficient, collaborative work within teams and prompt and comprehensive response to queries
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to adapt to change quickly
  • Process and system-minded, with a willingness to investigate the root cause of issues so we can learn and improve
  • Experience in a professional services environment would be desirable, particularly experience within a consulting company

Finally, the important details…

Nous is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Nous is a flexible workplace that offers consulting opportunities on a full-time and part-time basis.

We seek people who demonstrate an ability to work effectively with individuals with diverse backgrounds. We are committed to diversity and inclusion.

If there’s anything that our consultants need to have, it’d probably be two things: a willingness to learn, and a natural aptitude for teamwork!
