Working Hours at McGrathNicol

How flexible is your company when it comes to hours?
The hours required are determined by the work and how efficiently you complete the work. There is no expectation for employees to work long hours and the workload is manageable if managed effectively. There is also flexibility when working from home, but this is balanced with the need of having employees in the office to collect and perform forensic examinations of evidence when required.

Hours are pretty standard and there is flexibility in working from home a few days a week. Hours are longer if there are strict deadlines to be met but I am happy with my hours worked.

The work hours depend on how busy the projects and service line are. Currently, Restructuring is quite busy meaning longer hours than usual, however, it varies depending on the nature of the job.

I think in general I work slightly longer hours than many of my friends, but I do not work as much as some of the other service lines which keeps me humble. I think the hours come with the type of work additionally the flexibility to pop out for appointments or otherwise really facilitates all I need.

Standard o_ce hours are from 8.30am to 5.30/6.00pm, and managers are supportive of working 1-2 days a week from home.

As long as it is communicated, McGrathNicol can be flexible with work hours.

Quite flexible. Some people come into work from 8am and leave at 4pm. Others are 9am to 5pm. I personally come in at 8.30am and leave around 5pm.

A minimum of 37.5 working hours during the week, however the actual number is a bit higher, and can increase considerably during busy periods. These hours are generally quite flexible - you are often able to adjust your start/finish time for the day to fit in other responsibilities, as long as you make up any lost time throughout the week.

As a mid-size firm that aims to compete with Big-4 accounting / insolvency consultants, work hours can become excessive at times, particularly when one junior is tasked with managing all entry-level responsibilities across a number of engagements. However, working options are reasonably flexible, and leave is encouraged when required.

As all our work is project based the actual hours you work are quite dependent on project timelines and client expectations. There's absolutely no 'last man standing' culture at the firm so if I've done all my work by COB I don't feel as though I have to stay and work later. However, project deadlines can often be tight and that usually results in some later nights. I have had very few days where I haven't been assigned on a project and often am assigned to multiple projects with different lead partners.

Typical hours in the office are 8.45 am - 5.15 pm, but personally I tend to come in at 8.30 and leave at 5 instead. So as long as you don't miss meetings and work the same total number of hours across the week it's pretty flexible. McGrathNicol also allow you to work from home a few days a week if you wish.

We are very understanding. We can work 2 days a week from home but if there are outstanding circumstances that can be extended with no issue. The firm is understanding that people have lives outside of work and allow for flexible hours accordingly to fit in with your commitments.

Usually pretty happy, longer if busy

I did have to work a fair bit of overtime recently, however things have calmed down a bit now, so the number of hours is very manageable, especially when the time spent at the office is enjoyable.

The firm is highly ?exible with work hours. While I prefer working from the o?ce, the 60/40 split (60% days office, 40% days remote) is welcomed and the ?rm is always accommodating to personal circumstances. In instances where you have no work due, there is no expectation to stay beyond work hours.
