Culture at McGrathNicol

9.2
9.2 rating for Culture, based on 28 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
The Cyber team may be considered small - with roughly 15 people in the Sydney o_ce and around 50 nationally. But with that there are many benefits in having interactions and working with colleagues across a wide range of experience. For instance, it is not uncommon for a Graduate to sit in an o_ce with the Partner running a project to review your work.

There does tend to be a strict hierarchy, but a lot of people are normal.

In the o_ce all sta_ are approachable and supportive. The hierarchy is pretty standard, but you have Counselling Managers and Partners who oversee your progression. I have had great opportunity to also cooperate with colleagues from other state's o_ces. Outside the o_ce there are many great social and community events that allow people to socialise with colleagues outside their service line.

The firm culture is very social and flexible. Managers and below work closely and get along well which makes it easier to work together. There are many social events that enable cross service line interactions as well.

The culture is good, I think we have a good group of people. I think the culture sometimes su_ers from the workload, but it is possible the opposite could be true - having peers beside you under a heavy workload can create bonding opportunities and build morale.

There are frequent opportunities to connect outside of work. There are Friday drinks and monthly social events that are always varied and exciting, helping everyone build relationships in a more relaxed setting.

The firm culture is strong both in my city and nationwide. There is a hierarchy and structure in place but grads are still encouraged to talk to Partners both in and outside of the office.

In the Canberra office, we have open access to our Partners and collaboration is genuine amongst service lines and roles. The hours are reasonable and flexible with work from home allowed 2 days a week. You are not expected to reply to emails or messages outside of work hours.

McGrathNicol has a generally good and inclusive social culture. The work can be quite collaborative. There is an expectation to work longer hours during busy periods, however this is commonplace in professional services.

Generally speaking, all staff are welcomed to participate in social activities and there is reasonably significant engagement with higher ranking personnel.

The culture at McGrathNicol is amazing, and it would be the reason why I would recommend anyone to work at the firm. While there is a pretty standard role hierarchy, all levels from partners, directors, and managers are all very approachable and as an analyst you get the opportunity to work side-by-side with partners. Managers are very supportive of your skills development as a graduate and create an environment that allows you to ask questions, solicit feedback and make improvements over time.

It's a small office so we're very tight knit and the vibe is on point, with many choosing to socialise together after hours. There's a lot of collaboration across teams within my own office and interstate offices on engagements. The structure allows every junior employee to have both a Counselling Manager and a Counselling Partner who oversee your career progression, and you work directly with the partners on jobs. The office is open plan (no individual offices) which helps keep management approachable.

Very good. We are a supportive office and no matter if it is inside or out of office hours no individual isn't happy to speak to anybody else. When undertaking work, there is an open dialogue both ways when placed in unique circumstances and it is not an uncommon occurrence for a senior staff member to agree with a recommendation or course of action from a junior member as long as it on the correct path. We have social events during the week that allow team members to socialise outside of the office regardless of position or experience.

Culture is good, however, can sometimes lack cross divisional events that help colleague mingle from other departments. When times are busy, it sometimes causes a lack of consistent team events in/out of office hours, however generally a very enjoyable environment

Great networking and social events.

Good socialising amongst all levels of staff

I really like the culture within my smaller team - there is a feeling of mutual respect and support. There is a bit of a disconnect with partners but apart from that the hierarchy is not strongly felt. There is a strong gender imbalance, however the team makes an effort to make me feel welcome. There are many social events and they help a lot with cohesiveness in the office, they are lots of fun.

I thoroughly enjoy the culture of the firm. While there is a hierarchy, it is never an exclusive atmosphere and good relationships exists across varying levels. It feels like the firm genuinely values culture and supporting new starters to feel welcome within the firm.
