There is a clear framework and standard timeline for promotions and goal setting but have not yet experienced this. Your Counselling Manager and Partner are there to support your development and discuss your progression goals.

I think the system that McGrathNicol has in place is good. The idea that there is a rough framework of time set out for progression, but it is not guaranteed is both comforting and encouraging. It is good to know that there is an opportunity for me on the horizon and my manager makes acknowledgement of this. Conversely, I am glad it is not just based on time, and there is an element of merit that it is based on.

Promotion opportunities are very transparent. When speaking with your Counselling Manager (career mentor) you can discuss when you want to aim for a promotion and put a plan in place to achieve that.

I was promoted to Senior Consultant after one year at the ?rm, and I have been told it will be possible for me to reach Assistant Manager next year. McGrathNicol has a comprehensive competency framework which outlines the expectations of each level in the firm, and a rewards cycle which takes place twice a year and is an opportunity for your level and compensation to be reviewed.
