The Opportunity

James Hardie is on the hunt for a Shift Electrician to work a rotating roster (4 on, 4 off) for our Rosehill plant. 

Reporting to the Electrical Planner, this hands-on role will be responsible for executing electrical maintenance and breakdown support to ensure that the electrical systems function at a level that supports the operational team’s requirements for safe, reliable factory processing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake electrical activities to best ensure the long-term reliability of electrical and control systems.
  • Working with electrical and electronic components related to power reticulation, instrumentation, control systems, SCADA systems, HV, PLC programming, Drives, motors, lighting, electrical panels and circuits as well as safety system circuits.
  • Assist with day-to-day electrical equipment issues
  • Troubleshoot and fault find various issues with electrical equipment onsite in order to shorten or eliminate machine downtime.
  • Liaising and working closely with planning and stores personnel to ensure that parts and equipment are available when required to avoid delay and improve task execution.
  • Working with production and finishing teams to improve communication and interaction between operators and maintenance / engineering personnel
  • Driving continuous improvement in the maintenance department through a commitment to training and development, precision maintenance and a ‘closed loop’ approach.

About you 

  • Cert. III in Electrotechnology or trade qualification equivalent
  • Experience with industrial control systems such as PLC's, specifically for diagnostic problem solving.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in a heavy process manufacturing environment
  • Aptitude for hands-on work coupled with fault-finding and strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage time autonomously and can act with a sense of urgent.
  • Commitment to personal safety through following James Hardie's safety vision

Highly desirable but not essential: 

  • SAP experience
  • Forklift Lance
  • EWP Licence
  • High Voltage Training
