Pros & Cons
Working on headline matters and the relatively flat and cooperative structure.
My work involves valuing all sorts of different businesses using a variety of valuation methodologies. The best thing is that I am building practical skills that are applicable to business management and investments.
Opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and engagements. Opportunity to work alongside and learn from industry experts. The breadth of work provides significant learning opportunities, keeps me on my toes, and means no two days are the same. I enjoy the collaborative and team-based nature of the work we do.
The vast amount of roles that I am able to provide to the company, whether it be formal or informal matters. I am able to work on many different jobs with different responsibilities each day which is essential for my development.
The people. I genuinely really like everyone that I work with. They are great colleagues.
Large workload can get overwhelming if incorrectly managed.
On rare occasions, working long hours.
The administrative tasks associated with consulting practice (timesheets, emailing clients for information, invoices etc).
Timesheets.
The hours will vary depending on how busy you are.

We are encouraged to receive regular documented feedback from our managers to support our ambitions within the company. There are performance reviews half-annually.
Our team makes a concerted effort to book social events every month as well as team lunches. FTI also sponsors my gym membership as well as my post-graduate qualifications (CFA). Each year we have a forum at a 'holiday destination' for a weekend to encourage collaboration.
Very ethnically diverse workforce, with employees with cultural backgrounds from all across the globe. The firm is very committed to employing women in both senior positions and grad positions. Paternal leave is equally supported for men as well as women.
I work in Valuation Advisory. My work involves completing valuations of companies, shares, and convertible bonds. I've also assisted with independent expert reports and prepared a variety of pitch decks and fee quotes for jobs. Management gives me a lot of autonomy to complete as much of the work as I can on my own, whilst remaining very approachable for questions.
Managers are very accessible, whether it be the highest or lowest managers. They will always provide constructive feedback and will coach/mentor you through the whole process. They will also give you a large degree of responsibility for some tasks which is essential for career development.
Recruitment process was very streamlined and provided the ability to showcase your skills knowledge and interest in the role. This was a result of multiple stages of testing which allowed you to show your analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
FTI provides an induction training program that introduces you to each segment of the Company and outlines the roles within these groups. Beyond this, FTI experts provide frequent training sessions on key aspects of your role e.g. dividend payouts as well as organising external professionals to come in and speak about their field of expertise. Additionally, your coach will provide frequent feedback to you and ensure you are managing your job well. On-the-job training is the best form of training and you will be introduced to this as you start your role!
Hours will depend on how busy you are, meaning if there are not as many tasks to complete, the hours are very giving. however, if new matters come in, or reports need to be finished, your hours may increase. This is just part of the job though.
