Flintwood Disability Services Graduate Programs & Internships

  • Charity, Social Work & Volunteering

Flintwood was established in 1999 when we became incorporated ready to start services in 2000. The Organisation was developed from a group of dedicated parents and workers of Holroyd School. The reason it was established was to tender for the day program known as TRAILS, as the committed workers from Holroyd School were unable to continue running the day program. Flintwood was successful in the tender and started with one Day program located in Westmead.

The name Flintwood was derived from the surnames of the then Vice Principal and Principal of Holroyd School – Anne Flint and John Woodford. They were the founders of the TRAILS program supporting young adults leaving school into further Post School Programs.

Since 2000 Flintwood has grown considerably and provides the following service types:

  • Centre Based Day Programs – Community Participation, Post School Options & Block Funded Day Services
  • Community Participation – Individual Support and Self Managed
  • Life Choice and Active Ageing
  • Centre Based Respite
  • Flexible Respite
  • Transition to Work
  • Supported Accommodation
  • Self Managed

Flintwood now covers the geographic region of North West Metropolitan Sydney covering from Brookvale to Concord to the Blue Mountains.

The underpinning theme of the Organisation is: Enhancing Opportunities for People with Disabilities. Flintwood are committed to working with individuals and their families in working towards living the lives people choose and support their decisions and lifestyle on an individual basis.

Flintwood continually strive to employ the most skilled and motivated people.
