Epicentre Consulting Engineers Graduate Programs & Internships

  • Engineering Consulting

Epicentre provides professional design and consultation for engineering services. Their core disciplines are Hydraulic, Fire, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Services.

Their engineers comprise highly skilled specialists covering all aspects of engineering. The qualifications of their staff range from designers with trade backgrounds to degree-qualified engineers. This combination is extremely important to them as they want to provide practical expertise and not just lines on a page.

Core Values:

  • Communicate- We listen to each other and our clients to provide them with our expertise, and we do it often so they don't have to ask. We don't tell them what to do, but we help them find a way to reach their goals.
  • Be proud of what we do- We are proud of what we do and proud of what we produce. Even if we discover a problem, we will come with a solution.
  • Do what you say - If we make a promise, we keep it. Our word is our bond.
  • Do the right thing- We want to be the company where you can tell your mother everything you do.
  • Have a sense of humour- If you can't share a laugh with your clients and colleagues you are working at the wrong place.

The main thing we value about the company is that our staff enjoy working together. You spend a large proportion of your day with people you work with, so we want to make sure that everyone wants to be here. We don't want people who are looking for a job to fill their day, we want people who are looking to help build a company.

Recruitment Process

At Epicentre, they don't believe in filling seats in the office. It is critical they find the right person for the right seat.

Our application process generally follows a process of:

  • Application - We like to see the candidates CVs and an outline of what they have done. One of the main points to get past this gate is presentation and attention to detail. In all honesty, bad formatting and spelling mistakes will see candidates being passed over straight away. Epicentre is a company that strives for high quality and attention to detail. We would hope that the candidates have spent time reviewing their CV's in the same way that they would for any work they did with us.
  • The initial interview - The initial interview is conducted with the Line Manager and the HR Manager and can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. The meeting may be conducted as a video conference or possibly a face-to-face meeting in the office. In this meeting, the candidate will be made aware of our Core Values and must provide responses to how they believe they meet these requirements. This interview also centers around technical aptitude. We will want to see if the candidate is right for the role and if they have the ability to do the work.
  • The second interview - The second interview is conducted with the Line Manager and another Manager on the same level as the Line Manager. The preference for the second interview is that it is conducted in the office (pending Health Authority Orders). In this interview, there will be a discussion about the type of projects they will be working on. The candidate will have the opportunity to provide responses to how they believe they meet these requirements and approach the work. Wages expectations are discussed at this point.
  • The third interview - A third interview is an option and in some cases may not be required. Where a third interview is conducted it will be with the Line Manager and another Manager on the same level as the Line Manager (different to the previous interview). The preference for the third interview is in an informal place such as a café (pending Health Authority Orders). The third interview is to ensure a good personal fit for the company and the people they will be dealing with.

At the end of the interview process, successful candidates will be sent a formal offer and contract.

Remuneration & Career Growth

  • Our salaries vary depending on the role, experience and level of skill. Our graduate roles are above the minimums set by Fair Work Australia and the relevant Awards that apply for the role and are around AUD$50-$60k. While we have a formal remuneration review on a yearly basis, in many cases we have increased the wages of team members within months rather than years. We understand the value of the people who work with us and we like to make sure they are paid accordingly.
  • Training is something that encourages at Epicentre. We conduct Lunch & Learn sessions in the house once a month so people can not only learn about the other groups in the company but can provide insight into the group that they work for. We are also keen to help our team members with external training where required, in order to further their careers and help the company grow.
  • We offer great career progression in the company. One of our Executives started in an Administration role with the company. You can take any role in the company wherever you like.
