City of Newcastle (CN) is seeking an enthusiastic engineer, interested in either developing their technical engineering and asset management skills, specialising their existing skills or implementing their current stormwater expertise to deliver core stormwater infrastructure services for CN. As the successful candidate, you'll join our Assets and Projects team for a period of 24 months to temporarily replace an employee currently on secondment.

Although the position requires a diploma or degree qualified engineer, we offer a flexible salary range that can accommodate applicants at all career stages. We are committed to providing mentorship and professional development opportunities and will consider students in their final year of education.

In this role, you’ll be involved in the following tasks:

  • Performing drainage investigations – including site inspections, condition assessments, obtaining technical site data, hydraulic modelling, preparing concept designs and responding to customers.
  • Preparing business cases and works programs.
  • Programming robotic CCTV inspections and performing GIS mapping.
  • Providing design review, construction advice, quality assurance and asset handover services.
  • Providing updates for technical drawings, specifications, plans, procedures, and policies.

Remuneration range:  $67,209.56 - $84,501.63 + 10.5% Superannuation per annum for a 35-hour week. Successful applicants that meet the essential criteria of the position description can expect the upper limit of the salary range.
