• Laboratory Technician: Responsible for carrying out all analyses and activities required to ensure the timely and accurate completion of analysis necessary for all products to support plant and customer requirements. Work closely with production team to obtain samples, escalate any issues and report on sample analysis.
• Complete all analysis requirements with accuracy and efficiency.
• Support the production team with any other analyses that may be required.
• Completing analyses for inter-laboratory cross-check program samples, Certificate of Analyses tank samples, inventory stock take, and grower sample testing.
• Follow all laboratory standard procedures and complete their work in accordance with Cargill’s Guiding Principles.
• Maintain current knowledge of chemicals used
• Ensure the accuracy and timely completion of laboratory daily production reports, weekly load out reports and monthly reports
• Maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
• Any other duties as assigned
• Investigate non-conformance to plant and customer specifications.
• Deduce results and draw conclusions from laboratory tests.
• Recommend modifications to established methods, and appropriate, and prepare detailed report on findings.
• Advise on technical problems
• Check equipment and instrumentation as directed
• Education, Experience, Skills

Description

• Education (includes formal education, certifications, accreditations, etc)
• Tafe qualification in related discipline/relevant work experience

Experience

• Sound grasp of basic computer skills
• Good knowledge on food safety,
• Laboratory procedures for testing raw materials and product quality and hygiene practices.

Technical Skills

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High motivation and more responsibility.
• Good communication skills.
• Necessary reading, written and spoken English
• Knowledge of industry standards (eg AOF, FSANZ) would be ideal
• Good knowledge of analytical instruments, how they work, how they need to be serviced and their calibration.
• Safe handling of corrosive, toxic and flammable chemicals.

Internal / External Contacts Challenges

Internal：

• Mainly with other Lab technicians, crush plant production team, refinery plant production, logistics team and tank farm, procurement, maintenance, commercial team, other Cargill crush plant and refinery laboratories.

External：

• Third-party audit laboratory, external laboratories.
• Knows the quality, test procedure and standards from the production supervisor and understands the key process control points. Learns from supervisors to understand the meal and oil load out KPI’s.
• Takes calculated risks, offers ideas, looks for improvements, encourages others to look for and offer ideas, suggestions, opinions. Supports environment that promotes creativity.
• Good communication skills to follow-up PRP/GHP etc. findings with good priority setting.
• Communication and liaison with other laboratories, inside and outside Cargill, is an essential requirement to help ensure the integrity of laboratory work
• Balancing competing priorities between customers, carriers, logistics, business and plant functions under tight deadlines
