Job Description

Zendesk is looking for a UX Writer / Content Design Intern to join our team in Australia! Interns can be based remotely anywhere in Australia, or co-located with our office in Melbourne. Relocation assistance is not provided. This internship will be full time for 6 months starting in August 2022.

Meet your team

The Content Design team is made up of former journalists, web and product writers. None of us majored in “Content Design” and it’s OK if you didn’t either. You might be striving for a career as a UX Writer, Information Architect, Instructional Designer, Conversation Designer or Technical Writer. If you get passionate about writing product copy that delivers the right message at the right time, you’ll fit right in.

Content design sits within Product Design, and we have weekly writing and design critiques to make sure everyone is on the same page. We’re a fun bunch who work hard to craft user experiences and define the product voice at Zendesk. You will play a crucial part in that meaningful work.

The Role

This is not a content marketing job nor is it a copywriting job! We write for the people using Zendesk products to help them take action and navigate the UI. Your work makes Zendesk easier to understand. 

You will test language, think like a designer, and deliver highly-accessible user experiences, all while incorporating the charm of the Zendesk brand.

What you get to do every day:

  • Partner with product designers and product managers to shape Zendesk through clear product writing and information design 
  • Collaborate with the content design team to evolve our team standards and practices
  • Attend weekly team syncs, writers’ critiques, and product design critiques
  • Add to the Zendesk design culture through blog posts or a final internship presentation

What you bring to the role:

  • Some experience writing digital content (websites, software, instructional content), with a focus on UI content design.
  • Proven understanding of user experience and design thinking with the ability to adapt your writing style to match a company’s brand voice.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills and a solid grasp of product design methodology.
  • Some experience with documentation writing and design systems

Requirements: 

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Communications, English, UX writing, Technical writing, Content Strategy or any related fields at the time of the internship
  • Must be authorized to work in Australia
  • Must be located in Australia for the full duration of the internship
