We’re looking for a Business Systems Analyst to join our agile team of highly skilled actuaries, financial modelling and software engineers. You’ll collaborate closely with others to translate a vision into features or functionality in our financial modelling software. You’ll work on a world-class and industry leading InsurTech software platform suite to build and execute financial models both on-premise and in the cloud. Our teams are constantly looking at ways to bring value to industry and clients through the symbiotic relationship between the insurance space and innovative technology enhancements. You will be working as part of a close-knit yet global team following Scrum methodologies to create and enhance products, whilst ensuring the product continues to meet high levels of reliability, maintainability, usability and performance.

The Role

  • Collaborating with team members and internal and external stakeholders to translate requirements into User Stories.
  • Research and development of actuarial/financial models and mathematical methodologies.
  • Active engagement participation in the full software development lifecycle – Software design, development, customisation, testing and deployment in an SME capacity.
  • Participate in Agile/scrum activities (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives), striving to continuously improve the team velocity, its processes and engineering practices.
  • Preparation of reports and documentation associated with actuarial/financial models and software development.
  • Provision of technical, product and modelling support services to both internal and external clients.
  • Support for scrum masters and project managers as required.

As a graduate at WTW, you have a world of opportunity ahead of you. You will drive your own career progression, acquiring new skills via training and by learning from your colleagues, expanding your experience by working on different projects and gradually taking on additional duties and responsibilities. You will also have an opportunity to move into product owner, software architecture, engineering, project management, quality assurance, DevSecOps or any another specialisation area, when you are ready.

We offer graduates the flexibility to study towards a range of qualifications from both technical and business disciplines depending on the needs of the business and individuals..

The Requirements

You will be interested in the insurance sector and be enthusiastic about financial modelling and software development in the InsurTech space, hence you will need to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in actuarial studies, computer science, finance, mathematics, statistics or engineering.
  • The ability to understand complex modelling structures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A well organised and meticulous way of working.
  • Proven time management skills and an ability to effectively prioritise tasks.

Other highly desirable, but not essential skills are:

  • Progress towards Associate qualification with the Actuaries institute.
  • Proficient in MS Office packages.
  • Understanding of Azure DevOps and Git.
  • Programming experience in C++, C#, Excel/VBA, Python or other similar languages.

Why Join WTW

WTW provides a competitive benefits package which includes the following (eligibility requirements apply):

  • Annual bonus.
  • Company paid salary continuance insurance.
  • Life and TPD insurance (Australia only).
  • Hybrid working.
  • Networks (Gender, Wellbeing, Pride).
  • Career Growth – internal opportunities and development programs.

At WTW, we trust you to know your work and the people, tools and environment you need to be successful. The majority of our colleagues work in a ”hybrid” style, with a mix of in-person and in-office interactions dependent on the needs of the team, role and clients. Our flexibility is rooted in trust and “hybrid” is not a one-size-fits-all solution.

We understand flexibility is key to supporting an inclusive and diverse workforce and we encourage requests for all types of flexible working. Please speak to your recruiter to discuss more.

The Application Process

  • Please submit a copy of your most recent academic transcript with your resume.
  • Include a cover letter briefly describing how you would use or create a software product to evaluate different car insurance policies.
  • Short-listed candidates will be required to complete a short video interview.
  • Aptitude testing will be required for final candidates.

Please note there may be a pause in our recruitment process due to the Christmas shut-down period from 22 December, 2023 to 8 January, 2024.

At WTW, we believe that a culture of inclusion and diversity is critical to our business. It’s not a separate initiative – rather it’s fundamental to everything we do. We are an equal-opportunity employer who is committed to fostering an inclusive work environment and embrace diversity including gender, nationality, disability, age, marital/parental status, ethnicity, gender identity and sexual orientation. We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds.

In the spirit of reconciliation, WTW acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
