We are looking for a graduate Business Systems Analyst who will work as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our agile team of highly skilled actuaries, financial modelling and software engineers. SMEs engage with stakeholders to develop a vision of how to achieve business goals.  The SME then works closely with other team members to translate that vision into features or functionality in our financial modelling software.

You will be working on a world-class and industry-leading InsurTech software platform suite to build and execute financial models both on-premise and in the cloud. Our industry is one of the highest users of technologies such as computing and Machine Learning.  You will be working as part of a close-knit yet global team following Scrum methodologies to create and enhance products, whilst ensuring the product continues to meet high levels of reliability, maintainability, usability and performance.

The Role

  • Working with team members and internal and external stakeholders to translate requirements into User Stories.
  • Research and development of actuarial/financial models and mathematical methodologies.
  • Active engagement participation in the full software development lifecycle – Software design, development, customisation, testing and deployment in an SME capacity.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum activities (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives), striving to continuously improve the team velocity, its processes and engineering practices.
  • Preparation of reports and documentation associated with actuarial/financial models and software development.
  • Provision of technical, product and modelling support services to both internal and external clients.
  • Support for scrum masters and project managers as required.

As a graduate of Willis Towers Watson, you have a world of opportunity ahead of you. As a member of ICT, you will drive your own career progression, acquiring new skills via training and by learning from your colleagues, expanding your experience by working on different projects and gradually taking on additional duties and responsibilities. You will also have an opportunity to move into product owner, software architecture, engineering, project management, quality assurance, DevSecOps or any other specialisation area, when you are ready.

We offer graduates the flexibility to study towards a range of qualifications from both technical and business disciplines depending on the needs of the business and individuals.

The Requirements

You will be interested in the insurance sector and be passionate about financial modelling and software development in the InsurTech space.

  • Tertiary qualifications in actuarial studies, computer science, finance, mathematics, statistics or engineering.
  • Ability to understand complex modelling structures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A well organised and detail-oriented way of working.
  • Great time management skills and an ability to effectively prioritise tasks.

Other highly desirable, but not essential skills are:

  • Progress towards Associate qualification with the Actuaries Institute.
  • Proficient in MS Office packages.
  • Programming experience in C++, C#, Excel/VBA, Python or other similar languages.

To support your application, you must provide the following:

  • A cover letter briefly describing how you would use or create a software product to evaluate different bank loans
  • An up-to-date resume
  • Your most recent academic transcript

Please note that your application will not be considered if the above documents are not provided.
