Job Description

Wallace &  Wallace Lawyers is a medium-sized Mackay-based firm with an experienced team practicing in all areas of law.

Mackay is the services hub to the Bowen Basin mining industry, an established agricultural center, and the gateway to the Whitsundays.

With 20 professional staff and 22+ support staff this well-established firm, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, is highly regarded whilst working with a diverse client portfolio including mining companies, mining service companies, general business clients, and rural/primary producers.

The Role:

We seek a graduate lawyer to join our busy Commercial Litigation team which currently consists of a Partner, who is an Accredited Specialist in Commercial Litigation, and an Associate who is supported by a team of legal secretaries.

Working in a busy regional practice with quality clients is an exceptional opportunity to work on every part of a file, which can often be missing in a city practice, including working directly with clients and court appearances.

You will develop a broad set of skills and build a solid foundation for your practice moving forward.  There may also be opportunities to carry out some criminal law work in all state courts.

The firm provides CPD and supports further study to assist career development (such as a master of laws or specialist accreditation) with involvement in associated professional organizations encouraged and paid for by the firm.

We encourage applicants who:-

  • have a connection with Mackay or similar regional areas or have a real desire to live and work in Mackay;
  • are looking to develop and progress their career to stay in Mackay in the long term; and
  • have good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
