Reporting to the Senior Community and Youth Officer, this pivotal role will see you responsible for developing and delivering funded projects targeting children, young people and families across the Liverpool, Campbelltown, Fairfield & Canterbury-Bankstown local government areas.

This role will require you to be a qualified Counsellor (minimum requirement – Diploma of Counselling) to provide individualised support for children, young people, adults and families. The counselling service takes a strengths-based approach, using holistic assessments, case planning, advocacy and support methods to achieve a range of goals.

Some of your key duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a caseload of clients for Counselling, including identifying the needs and strengths of clients.
  • Work with and support community members, children, young people, and families in the following areas: behavioural issues, homelessness, mental health, emotional issues, family breakdown, employment and more.
  • Deliver relevant programs and services for children, young people and community members using a model of best practice that meets the needs of community/disability program requirements and individuals.
  • Actively build and promote family relationships and community networks to ensure optimum engagement for young people.
  • Planning, developing and facilitating skill development workshops to school students and community members.
  • Assist in facilitating Playgroup community program for families with children 0-5 years old.
  • Prior experience is desirable but not required, as training will be provided to the right person for the job!
