      Specification:

      The person employed for this job role must be confident in their knowledge and must have the ability to work alongside a team and be able to follow clear directions given to them.

      They must be able to fulfil responsibilities in accordance with our centre philosophy. They will be flexible and able to work with all age groups in the early years.

      The person selected for this position will be warm and friendly and be able to support all the needs of the children in our care. The person employed in this job role will work under the staff in the room and be able to understand children's basic wants and needs.

      • Traineeship means an employee that undertakes training in the field of early childhood (cert III) with an Australian approved training organisation. A period of 4 non-contact hours per week will be allocated for all trainees as study time. A trainee will complete their traineeship in conjunction with a set time frame in accordance with their training provider. Once the trainee has completed their course it is at the employer's discretion if a position will become available for this candidate.
      • Support Worker means a carer appointed by the employer to contribute to the development of and assist with the implementation of a child care program under the general direction of and responsible to a supervisor who is regularly present with a group of children.

      An employee at this level may be required to perform some or all of the following duties:

      • Positively interact with children, give each individual attention and comfort as required
      • Assist with ensuring a safe, healthy and clean environment both indoors and outdoors for all children
      • Assist with activities of a group of children for short periods of time during the day
      • Work with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the service subject to our policies and procedures
      • Understand and work accordingly to our policies and procedures
      • Assist in the development and or evaluation of the program
      • Assist in the observation and evaluation of the children's development
      • Assist with the recording of children's development and assist in planning for the ongoing development of the child.
      • Communicate with parents as asked too and always in a positive manner
      • Greet and farewell all families as they come and go from the centre
      • Attend to housekeeping and cleaning as required
      • Perform any duties directed by the educators who are in the room more frequently than oneself
      • Provide adequate supervision of the children at all times
      • Attend workshops and centre meetings
      • Maintain an environment that is safe for al children
      • Report any suspected cases of child abuse to the room leader or centre director: as a mandatory reporter this is a vital part of your job role
      • Maintain a professional attitude and observe confidentiality of students, parents and children
      • Be an appropriate role model to all children by displaying respect, courtesy and by using correct polite manners and language
      • Perform any assigned duties relevant to the needs of the centre
