About the Role: 

Our Adult Learning Facilitators (ALF) are responsible for the assessment of inmate education and vocational training needs and the identification of effective interventions to improve language, literacy, numeracy and employability. A core function of the ALF is to identify and incorporate recommended interventions into inmate case plans and implement appropriate engagement priorities and timelines. The ALF will deliver the specialist literacy and numeracy intervention components of case plans. The ALF is an integral part of the case management team responsible for the development of skills and behaviours that will reduce inmate reoffending and contribute to their reintegration and employability on release.

Skills and Experience: 

Our ideal candidates will have:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or its successor) or a Graduate Certificate qualification in Adult Education. (Persons with a relevant bachelor’s degree qualification may also apply).
  • Knowledge of the ACSF (Australian Core Skills Framework) and CSFW (Core Skills for Work).
  • Knowledge of Adult Learning Principles and current trends in the delivery of literacy and numeracy support.
  • Experience in developing adult language, literacy and numeracy skills through tutoring, mentoring, coaching or group facilitation.
  • Experience in dealing with people from diverse backgrounds and life experience.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A commitment to positively meeting the employment, educational and vocational training needs of inmates and a genuine desire to contribute to a reduction in reoffending.
