The coolest thing about working for Steadfast is that I feel that I am working with leading professionals that I can learn from and that they will push me to take on new and challenging opportunities. Not all companies have this support from senior executives, but Steadfast do and that’s what makes them stand out.

What's your job about?

Having graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Finance and Economics), Operations & Acquisitions was my calling. It’s all about people, numbers, negotiations and deals. Every day is different. Some days you might think it’s quiet and then boom, before you know it, it’s crazy o’clock, but that’s what I love. No two days are ever the same. One day I might be doing due diligence for a potential acquisition (which involves analysing financial, legal, HR information among others) and the next day it might be preparing reports for the Board. I’m always learning on the job and that’s what excites me. As a team, we are all so supportive of each other, and as the saying goes, ‘there’s no team like the dream team!’ (that’s us!).

What's your background?

I grew up in Sydney, Australia and went to the University of Sydney. I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Finance and Economics) and during my time at university was fortunate to have travelled abroad to Singapore for a whole semester. But of course, there’s no place like home. I graduated in 2019 and Steadfast was my first corporate role. I now had to learn to be a grown up. I always knew I wanted to do M&A at Steadfast and the graduate program gave me a real opportunity to trial this out. Since then, I’ve been with the team and still am. I’m always learning and that’s what makes me love my job.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Absolutely. As long as you’re a people person and willing to learn, you can definitely strive in our team!

What's the coolest thing about your job?

The coolest thing about my job would have to be meeting new people. With the transactions that I do, a very important part of my role is communicating with a diverse range of people. You meet people from all across the world who have different backgrounds and so many stories to tell. You also form meaningful relationships with them over the years.

What are the limitations of your job?

You have to be able to meet tight deadlines. At times when we do board reporting or transactions for clients, a very tight deadline is provided and if that means working late, so be it. You never really know what you’re capable of unless you push yourself!

3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...

  1. Get as much experience as possible whether it be joining societies at university or meeting new people.
  2. Be authentic, be open-minded and most importantly, be you.
  3. Have fun! Whether it be in life or at work, make sure you’re enjoying yourself.
