About The Opportunity

This position is suited for experienced clinical coders who are passionate about coding quality and ongoing coder education. The successful candidate will:

  • Provide training and mentoring for entry level coders
  • Provide ongoing education and clinical coding auditing on the Clinical coding team based at Camden/Campbelltown Hospitals.
  • Assist in clinical coding to aide in meeting Ministry of health coding deadlines.
  • Liaising with clinicians as needed to provide a link between coders and clinicians and ensure ongoing engagement which will have a positive impact on the quality of clinical documentation, clinical coding and accurate Activity Based Funding (ABF) for the facility.

How to Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  1. Degree or Associate Diploma in Medical Records Administration or Health Information Management or other relevant health-related qualification and /or experience relevant to the role.
  2. Proven coding experience with detailed knowledge of The International Statistical Classification of Diseases And Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM).
  3. Experience in conducting, documenting and communicating quality improvement activities particularly as they pertain to the clinical coding area.
  4. Excellent standard of verbal and written communication skills, with excellent report writing and data presentation skills.
  5. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  6. Strong knowledge of casemix measurement systems in relation to the hospital environment as well as current developments in activity based funding.
  7. Proven experience in database management, particularly using MS Access as well as proficiency in all MS Office products.
  8. Experience with computerised patient administration systems.
