About The Opportunity

Liverpool Hospital is looking for an organised, contemporary and dynamic librarian to join the library team.

You will have outstanding interpersonal skills and be a customer service superstar. We are seeking someone who is engaging and passionate assist in providing information, training and assistance to the hospital staff. You will be enthusiastic and motivated to achieve high-quality patient care, research and continuing professional development for those who utilise the Library resource.

The library is part of the exciting Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct project which provides a new, dynamic and contemporary opportunity for those joining the team during this development period.

What you'll be doing

The Librarian provides the delivery of high-quality, client-focused information resources and library services to SWSLHD staff and affiliated students, under the direction of the Library Manager and the Senior Librarian eServices. Primary areas of service provision include facilitating information access, research support, research skills training and client assistance in the day to day operation of the Library service. Additionally, the position is responsible for the functioning of the Ken Merten Library in the absence of the Library Manager and the Senior Librarian eServices.

How to Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible:

  • Recognised Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Librarianship / Information Studies with eligibility for Associate (professional/librarian) membership to the Australian Library and Information Association.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills, including working knowledge and understanding of library management systems including circulation, serials, acquisition and cataloguing modules.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of searching online databases, bibliographic management, reference services and delivery of research skills training.
  • Demonstrated a high level of professionalism and commitment to quality client services and the ability to work flexibly in a changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a professional team; showing initiative, setting priorities and balancing the demands of a complex working environment.
  • Demonstrated active commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up to date on emerging trends and best practices in the provision of library and information services.
  • Demonstrated excellent liaison, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to promote library services and resources while building relationships across a range of professional and disciplinary areas.
  • Must be available to participate in an extended hours roster.
