South Eastern Community Connect (SECC) is known for its compassionate approach to the local community. It provides services to people of all ages in south-east Sydney through three dynamic community centres in Eastlakes, Mascot, and Darling Point.
SECC has supported the community since 1979, initially focused on providing transport and social support for seniors. Under the leadership of CEO Kate Melhopt, SECC has grown to provide whole-of-life services, including children's and youth programs focused on mental health and wellbeing.
SECC is different to many organisations because when you call you speak to real people with a passion for what they do. It is not cold and corporate, but warm, friendly and personable. Staff are mostly locals with an understanding of south-east Sydney and its diverse needs.
Our new staff often comment that SECC is not just about 'the bottom line' but caring for people genuinely and authentically within the community. It's a true grassroots organisation, and offers its employees meaningful work and a strong sense of purpose.
Staff are well supported by the CEO and management and are regularly given training and personal development opportunities. It truly is a safe place to work, with a healthy team, above-average wages, and compassionate management.
