Your role

The Environment Team is growing with a wide range of interesting projects and sustainable design. They are a large multidisciplinary company with iconic projects across renewables, environmental studies, dams & hydropower, solar power projects, energy transition and in-land rail.  

SMEC Australia are seeking a Graduate Environmental Scientist with an interest in Contaminated Land to join the Brisbane team.   

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Fieldwork including collecting soil, water and ground gas samples from sites across Brisbane
  • Conducting contaminated land assessments including data management and reporting
  • Project management
  • Supporting large multi-disciplinary projects and opportunities
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients and key stakeholders

The role will also present opportunities to support their other environment and waste teams, including landfill investigations, hydrogeological assessments, sustainability and environmental planning and assessment.

About you

Requirements:

  • Tertiary education in Environmental Science
  • Early career experience working with contaminated land, PFAS and Hazardous Materials
  • Good report writing skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary environment, share knowledge and learn from others
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills
  • Willingness to work away from home for short periods for field assessments
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with both internal & external clients and stakeholders
  • A current Queensland driver’s license and capacity to work outdoors.
