SLR has a great opportunity within our established Newcastle office for an individual to join our high performing and friendly Acoustics & Vibration team as a Graduate Acoustic Consultant. This is a full-time position that presents the ability to work with leading experts in a global firm, without leaving the beautiful Newcastle region.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Joining a wider APAC team of 60+ specialist Acoustic consultants with a vast range of experience you will be responsible for assisting with high profile and large-scale projects including:
• Carrying out technical tasks which will require accuracy in calculations, data analysis, modelling and design which will include manipulating and managing large data sets.
• With the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, work in the following areas is expected; environmental noise monitoring, building acoustics, 3D computer noise modelling, numerical analysis of results and associated reporting in which you will have key leaders to learn from.
• As well as delivering projects your role would include experience out in the field doing site work with support from an experienced consultant to transition to be able to do this autonomously.
• You will learn and develop within the role and be committed to ongoing development and learning opportunities at SLR.
Skills and experience
Our ideal candidate will have a willingness to challenge their capabilities and be an innovative thinker as well as possess:
• A relevant bachelor's degree (ideally mechanical or electrical engineering, environmental engineering or science)
• Ideally you will bring 0-1+ years’ experience within a consulting environment
• Capability and experience in Acoustics & Vibration, GIS, noise monitoring and prediction would also be favourable.
• Experience and high competency with noise monitoring equipment and/or 3D computer noise models (SoundPLAN, CadnaA etc.) would be desired but will be learnt within SLR.
• The ability to be self-sufficient and take the initiative while also communicating to team members effectively to be efficient as a consultant.
