Your role

Slater and Gordon Lawyers'  National Abuse team is growing, and they are now seeking a casual Law Clerk to join their team in Ashfield. As a valued member of this team, you will help support the Lawyers as they advance civil claims on behalf of their clients who have been abused as children in schools, juvenile detention facilities, and other institutional settings.

Your energy and drive will be integral in achieving successful outcomes along with your positive approach to your work. In this role, you will assist the team in managing and progressing abuse law matters, as you review reports and files and prepare draft legal correspondence.  Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Review, analyse and summarise documentation
  • Preparing legal correspondence, court documents and briefs when required
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant rules and regulations 
  • Working closely with the legal teams to advance legal matters for clients

About you

Ideally, you will have the following:

  • A keen interest in personal injury law, either as a current law student or similar.
  • Exposure to Abuse Law or a similar plaintiff personal injury practice (highly desirable)
  • A natural passion for helping people and a high level of empathy
  • Exceptional experience in communication and customer service
  • Excellent written and drafting skills
  • Recognise the importance of attention to detail and time management
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to multi-task 
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment
  • A willingness to learn
  • Proactive approach and initiative
