Our Story

Safewill Legal is a law firm at the forefront of innovation within the Australian wills & estates industry. Our affiliate company, Safewill is Australia’s leading Will writing platform, helping tens of thousands of Australians with their Wills and estate planning every year.

We’re backed by three of the leading venture capital funds in Australia; Reinventure, Carthona Capital and Flying Fox Ventures. Safewill’s mission is to redesign how estate planning and estate administration currently occurs, and Safewill Legal plays a pivotal role in enabling that vision.

Your Story with Us

We are seeking detail-oriented and highly organised Paralegals to assist our legal team during peak periods throughout the year. The focus of this role will be on reviewing and processing legal documents, and supporting the broader team. You will gain valuable work experience that complements your studies and sets you up for success following the completion of your degree.

Structure of Role

This position offers a flexible schedule, ideal for individuals who are able to work on an on-call basis. There will likely be extended periods of inactivity, followed by periods of time where 3-4 days of work per week are required.

There is the ability for most work to occur during completely flexible hours, including weekend work or before and after normal business hours, depending on your preference and existing schedule.

We request that applicants only apply if they are comfortable with the ad hoc nature of this work.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and analysing wills and related documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation and revision of legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research under the guidance of senior legal staff.
  • Provide administrative support to the legal team, including file management and correspondence.
  • Liaise with clients and other stakeholders as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members across different departments.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Law.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in legal settings, particularly in wills or estate planning, is advantageous but not required.

What We Offer:

  • An opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • A supportive and collaborative work culture.
  • Mentorship and guidance from experienced legal professionals.
  • Highly flexible work arrangements to complement your studies or other commitments.
  • An opportunity for a permanent position following the completion of your studies

Interested candidates are invited to submit a resume and a brief cover letter explaining their interest in the role and how they meet the qualifications.

An information and group interview session will be scheduled on 9 February 2024 for selected candidates in Surry Hills, Sydney. This session will allow you to meet the team, solve problems and showcase your ability to work as a team. Successful candidates will be advised and a formal training date will occur on 23 February 2024.

Please only apply if you can attend both of these sessions.
