Your role

Joining the Engineering team offers individuals the chance to become an integral part of the operational pulse of working teams. The technology empowers workers to have a voice and provides leaders with the visibility needed to make informed decisions. The team is currently seeking a graduate software engineer to join their ranks.

In the position of Graduate Software Engineer, individuals are entrusted with key projects from the outset. Tasks range from developing features for the training platform to refining automated infrastructure strategies for transitioning from a monolith to microservices, all with the goal of finding the simplest and most effective solution to current challenges.

This role offers an immersive experience in a fast-paced development cycle, where one owns a tight feedback loop, tests, and deploys code to production. It's possible to work on a feature change in the morning and see it live in the afternoon. Their collaborative culture fosters close work with software engineers and various departments to identify and solve issues that have a concrete impact on the business.

About you

Here's what SafetyCulture is looking for in this role:

  • A final-year university student or recent graduate
  • Studying a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical degree
  • An Australian or New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or able to provide evidence of full working rights

Who you are:

  • You’re a problem solver at heart. You won’t stop until you’ve found a solution and then you'll take one step further to improve it. In addition, you’re:
  • Keen to create high-performance, streamlined designs that critically impact the SafetyCulture product’s success and efficiency;
  • Curious to learn and comfortable discussing/exploring complex technical ideas;
  • Have a range of out-of-classroom projects or extra-curricular activities that demonstrate your passion for technology, particularly software engineering;
  • Keen to work alongside the best engineers in the industry, with the humility to continually upskill and improve yourself;
  • Knowledgeable about object-oriented design and development concepts (experience in coding is required for our technical assessment)

Benefits

SafetyCulture typically offers a range of employee benefits to support its workforce. While specific benefits may vary based on factors such as location and employment terms, here are some common employee benefits offered by SafetyCulture:

  • Equity with high growth potential, and a competitive salary

  • Wellbeing initiatives such as subsidised fitness programs and EAP services
  • Access to professional and personal training and development opportunities (eg. hackathons, workshops, lunch & learns)
  • ShipIt! is the annual company offsite where they bring together all employees globally for a week to reflect on the successes of the past and the vision for the future of SafetyCulture.

Training, development & rotations

Throughout the 18-month program, individuals in this role will rotate through all three Engineering departments, providing a hands-on opportunity to apply their learning. They will have the chance to immerse themselves in the company's tech stack, ultimately acquiring a diverse set of skills and experiences by the end of the program.

What you'll get:

  • The chance to work alongside diverse and intelligent peers in a rewarding environment
  • Training, mentorship, and personal development opportunities
  • Opportunities to attend and participate in company events, expos, and connect with customers, both locally and overseas
