About the Role…

An exciting opportunity to ’learn and grow’ exists with our sports turf management, greenkeeping and grounds team. We are seeking a Sports Turf Management Apprentice either in first year, or new to the trade, to join our experienced and professional Grounds Team. Successful applicants will be commited to completing their 4-year apprenticeship in sports turf management. More information about this course can be found here.

You will have the opportunity to gain and develop your skills maintaining Sydney Showground Stadium, Tom Wills Oval and Sydney Showground Cricket facilities to international standards and world’s best practice as well as maintaining all other turf, landscape and surrounds of Sydney Showground. We host a range of events including Cricket, BBL, AFL and Sydney Royal Easter Show Competitions on our grounds.

This is a full-time position, working 76 hours per fortnight to an event-based roster. (This includes time to attend courses of study).  You will be enrolled in  the appropriate course to achieve a Sports Turf Management qualification, and will be expected to do some weekend and evening work, with additional days leading into, during and post Sydney Showground events. Flexibility is essential!

About you…

  • Commited to completing a 4-year Sports Turf Management apprenticeship
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence or willingness to obtain
  • Passion to learn and grow within the industry
  • Proven history of being punctual & reliable
  • Have excellent communication & interpersonal skills,
  • Have an outstanding work ethic 
  • Be legally entitled to live & work in Australia
