Your role

As a Team Sports Marketing Intern, your role focuses on promoting Red Bull Energy Drink within various sports, particularly AFL, AFLW, T20 Big Bash, Soccer, and Basketball. You will be expected to build relationships with players and clubs at both amateur and professional levels, educate them about the product, and enhance its visibility and reputation within these communities. This is a fixed-term, part-time role (25 hours per week) for 12 months, starting mid-Jan or early Feb 2024.

Responsibilities:

  • Building product trial and trust with AFL/AFLW & VFL players & clubs
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with AFL/AFLW & VFL clubs, educate key decision-makers about Red Bull's benefits, and develop a sustainable product seeding program. This includes exploring collaborations with the AFL Players Association and ensuring Red Bull's presence in key AFL venues.
    • Communicate the benefits of Red Bull in a regulatory compliant manner to all AFL/AFLW clubs and high-performance teams, with initiatives to promote product trial and trust, and maintain an ongoing delivery schedule for product distribution.
    • Support the Product Expert in organizing the AFL High-Performance summit and manage a list of top-performing AFL/AFLW players who use Red Bull, promoting the product's relevance in sport occasions.
  • AFL/AFLW content creators & opinion leaders
    • Establish and manage relationships with AFL-specific content and audio opinion leaders to increase Red Bull Energy Drink's visibility and reach.
    • Coordinate with state-field marketing teams and the national opinion leader manager, while also developing a list of credible creator talents for brand exposure.
    • Formulate plans for Tier 1 opinion leaders' content integration and collaborate with the Athlete Marketing team to ensure a unified marketing strategy for AFL players and sourcing leads for future athlete signings.
  • Soccer, basketball, T20 Big Bash & other team sports
    • Develop a list of top-performing T20 Big Bash, Soccer, and Basketball players who use Red Bull, and promote the product's relevance by regularly providing it during sports occasions.
    • Construct and present a detailed strategy on how to impact key team sports, outlining targets, key deadlines, task prioritisation, and required business support.
    • Proactively identify opportunities in other key team sports where the product fits well, and manage consumer team sport-related enquiries by coordinating with the local Field Marketing team.

About you

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

  • You are studying Sports Science, Nutrition, or Sports Marketing and/or have 2+ year’s experience in AFL/AFLW/State League industry / club / player.
