Queer Screen is seeking expressions of interest from people who are interested in the production of a major film festival in Sydney, Queer Screen’s 30th Mardi Gras Film Festival. Their 30th year is planned to be their biggest year yet, with World Pride joining the 2023 Sydney Mardi Gras and borders reopened.

The successful applicants will report to the Production and Volunteer Coordinator and work closely with the Festival Producer, Festival Director, festival staff, and volunteers. The role will gain practical experience undertaking activities assisting with volunteer recruitment, assisting with festival events, parade float design and ticketing, and assisting with production content.

The majority of the tasks will be completed between Monday to Friday, 9.00 AM - 5.00 PM, but there will be the expectation to work outside of these hours in the lead up to and during the festival (15 February - 2 March 2023)

 Responsibilities:

  • Assist with cross promotion for volunteer recruitment, including creating unique ideas
  • Reaching out to different organizations/unis to get a variety of volunteers
  • Assist in updating session pages and website databases to make sure all festival information is accurate and up to date
  • Cross-checking content captions for on demand sessions to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Assist with the creation of a volunteer induction video
  • Assist with image resizing for session pages
  • Assist with the production of festival events, including bumping in and out of venues
  • Assisting with volunteer management and checking volunteer inbox prior and during the festival
  • Assisting with checking the disability and inclusion plan is in place and supporting accessibility requirements
  • Supporting the Ticketing Coordinator with ticketing enquiries
  • Assist with the Virtual Help Desk through the festival (ticketing and customer service for on demand sessions)
  • Assist with fair day and float preparations
