At my place of work, the opportunities are endless. We have access to all different types of training, whether its leadership training, technical skills, methodologies, the list goes on. You just need to ensure that you speak to your managers and ensure you are asking them the right questions in order to be able to take advantage of these opportunities.
Graduate, Brisbane - 10 Sep 2024
My company's mandatory training was fairly standard. Other skills I have picked up during my time has been effective communication and negotiation skills and working with new tools.

I could do AZ-900, DP-900, and DP-300 training. I could do a lot of informal trainings as well like emotional intelligence, negotiation skills development, presentation skills development, how does the Government work, assessing your skills etc

Training is alright. Some are cookie-cutter mandatory training, but other specific training may be requested.

on the job training is awesome not once has anyone turned me down or were not able to guide me in the right direction. Formal training is great and addressing technical and personal skills and crosses various fields of topics and training materials

I have received a mixture of informal and formal training. The formal training has been mostly provided by external parties (Women in Technology, TAFE NSW, Maipen for QGov Digital Graduates etc). I am also being training informally through my daily tasks, team members and informal mentors.

Minimal formal training, and you're at the mercy of the individual skill and ability of your assigned "mentor" for on-the-job training

Informal training is good. I had one really good mentor and workmate who taught me so much. Formal training, they are happy to pay for if it fits what you do.
Graduate, Brisbane - 12 May 2023
Graduate training covered many aspects of the job and skills that may be useful (Human Centered Design, skills for interviewing, writing & presenting, etc.). My team provided me with training for the systems they maintain, as well as offering AWS certifications.

Formal training is a drag, none of it is technical. Informal training happens all the time as we do not have suitable policies to address our required skills shortages. Training sites plus personal sessions with our manager, mostly.

There are some training sessions but they're meh, you honestly learn more during your actual day of working.

Certain team member will be very willing to train and assist you. Some training opportunities like attending day session are available, but are not the most useful sessions. You can get a Pluralsight license which provides an amazing way to study any topic for yourself.

We don't really have any. Just courses we can take online when we want to. They don't really provide many opportunities to go and do hands on training unless you seek it out yourself and seek approval to complete it.
