Job Satisfaction at Queensland Government Digital Graduate Program

My duties of my role fluctuate quite regularly. I would appreciate a steadier workload. However, the work is meaningful and does make an impact to our clients so at the end of the day, you feel a nice sense of accomplishment, belonging to an essential team in delivering change.

My role is a UX/UI Designer, I work along with other designers in my team to work with stakeholders and their website designs.

I am working as a database administrator. My day-to day responsibilities are: Regularly checking database performance to ensure it runs efficiently. Preparing for data recovery in case of hardware failure or data corruption, and running recovery drills. Granting or revoking access to the database, ensuring only authorized users can access sensitive data. Setting up and managing high-availability solutions (e.g., replication, clustering) to ensure the database is always accessible.

Project support work plus filling in the gaps which the team demands, from administration to data analytics and stakeholder engagement.

I do tier 3 support as a graduate working with VMware vSphere and vcloud director and other related technologies supporting customers. I get to do patching and run with projects to create new environments and support our client base.

I am still in a learning position, but I am being giving a variety of tasks that is prompting as much learning as there is work being produced.

Normal maintenance of the SAP finance system. Testing and documenting changes.

Cyber incident response. Looking at incidents and investigating and remediating them

Primarily doing development and technical support for systems we maintain.

Project-based work with the occasional fire to extinguish. Web applications development for the business units in the public rural hospital.

Just over a year into grad program I got an information security specialist (ao5) role. working in cyber security operations, my day looks something like this: work with frontline officers or other internal teams to troubleshoot/diagnose network issues (Use enterprise firewalls, web proxies and email gateways, Splunk), work on exciting projects like firewall replacements or implementing new enterprise tools, vulnerability scanning and Incident Response (reverse engineering malware, analysing logs for potential compromise, or working with internal staff who report incidents)

Monitoring a ISM queue, configuring and deploying routers, switches and wireless access points. Troubleshooting connectivity issues and sometimes attending sites around the Gold Coast and Brisbane to complete work.

It's not challenging enough for me.
