Culture at Queensland Government Digital Graduate Program

8.7
8.7 rating for Culture, based on 16 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
We have a very inclusive workplace. Our leader promotes diversity and hosts collaborative events, lunches and workshops very often. We are led by some of the best in the business, who continue to make us all feel valued and consistently share organisational goals to ensure we all work towards a common goal.

The company culture is very positive, everyone is encouraged to have their say and input no matter their role. Outside of the office, there are many social and sports clubs that you can join with your colleagues.

The company may have a formal hierarchy, but ideally, it promotes open communication across all levels. Employees can approach team leads, managers, or even senior executives for feedback or discussion. Teams work together on projects, brainstorm solutions, and share responsibilities. Regular team meetings, feedback loops, and knowledge-sharing sessions build an environment of cooperation. Everyone is encouraged to support each other, leading to shared successes. After-hours team-building activities like group sports, gaming, trivia nights, or workshops are a fun way for colleagues to bond outside the work setting. The company culture promotes a sense of belonging, where employees feel comfortable socializing and building friendships with colleagues.

Leaders (director levels) are easy to approach. Team is friendly and welcoming. People actually want to be here to work.

This is the best company and people I have worked with in over 20 years. I have never had the level of support like I have here.

Authority structures in my team are respected but are more casual in nature. Managers and directors are personable, so it creates a 'safe' professional space. The team is also very comfortable socialising internally during the workday because the top of the hierarchy has set the temperature of the room.

Generally positive with many colleagues contributing to a positive work environment. However, many individuals like to work independently to the detriment of team cohesion. Some team members are incredibly abrasive and keep knowledge to themselves, when knowledge is shared it's often "drip fed" and delivered in a condescending manner.

Really good with workload, not too many hours having to be done. Teamwork was great in the incident response team, and had good communication and socialisation.

Excellent Co-workers with small, tight-knit teams. Director is engaged with what is going on throughout our area.

No formal flexible hours, but the boss is very happy to let us prioritise life when required. The structure is classically government, with our small, local IT teams all forming one cohesive unit, even if there are very few overlaps between us.

Outside of work hours not expected to do anything (unless you're on call - usually in my team anyone who isn't on call will assist anyway) it's hard to work with other teams, sending requests to other teams may fall on deaf ears for quite some time. Senior exec's aren't very helpful, however team leaders and managers do a great job of shielding us from all the negativity/politics that goes into working gov extremely sociable work environment, lots of friends and people to talk to

The culture in work hours is very supportive and friendly. You can always go and have a chat to someone in the office and there are no KPIs or other metrics. Everyone gets their work done and helps each other out as a team. Outside of work everyone is always keen to catch up for drinks, or plan a camping trip.

Team cohesion is lacking. No one is willing to help so I feel like I'm very behind in my learnings. I feel like a burden when I ask for help and my team sometimes act like it's a chore trying to help me.
