I have had some great 3rd students and graduates from TAFE in the past and looking forward to having another person from TAFE work in my garden. I only grow things organically and do not use petrol-driven tools in my garden.

I'm looking for someone who can come regularly to work in my sweet cottage/fruit forest garden. The main goal is to keep it weed-free and the plants managed well to be their best. I would like someone to start ASAP before Christmas to finish some mini-projects.

The garden is a combination of fruit trees and herbs/flowers in the back with a tiny lawn and the side and front combine fruit trees and mostly native plants for insects and birds (and raiding
possums).

Current garden project work required right now - hopefully before Christmas

  • Weeding all beds - eg grass, various weeds (that I will show you) & a little nut grass in the back beds, oxalis in Myoporum at the side near the driveway.
  • Mulch exposed patch near the tomato plant and the Clivia. Add mulch to the peach tree.
  • Dig out 3 herbaceous plants in the middle of the driveway and plant them close together along the fence between the iris and the vine.
  • Dig out Iris in the driveway. and plant between the plants in item 3 and the piece of slate.
  • The drip watering system extended to the middle & east sides of the driveway
  • Plant blue brachycombe on the east side of the driveway (plants under orange tree in little pots).
  • Replant into the new pot —> Orchid now in the broken pot (found along the path near pink rose bush out the back). A new pottery pot can be found out the back with a note that states ‘pot for orchid’.
  • Remove Clivia (for future dwarf mulberry tree)
  • Cut back the fig at the back fence.
  • Brick edging on one side of the lawn needs ‘re-setting’

Anything else we decide together.
Later - Remove Hibiscus & Christmas Lilly to be replaced with dwarf fruit trees.
Ongoing maintenance

  • Mow the 3x2x4m lawn and edge it (push mower available on property - as the lawn is so small & good for the environment), however first mow requires an electrical mower.
  • Prune roses and herbaceous bushes
  • Weeding - quite well under control across most of the garden except in some small spots where
  • It is a persistent issue in patches and a very light scattering of weeds here and there. Plus
  • recently, as I was away, there is grass that needs pulling out here and there consistently.
  • Look after and trim very young and young native plants.
  • Manage fruit trees, eg Trim dwarf peach tree.
  • Other things as required

Work hours: Initially 1 day a week for at least 4 weeks and then 1 day a month on-going.
