Hayley Payne

I have had opportunities to push myself beyond my comfort zone and grow which is very rewarding both personally and professionally.

What is your current role and how long have you held this role?

My current role is Compliance Coordinator and I have held this role for approx. 3 months.

How did you choose your specialisation and why?

Through my corporate experience and business management studies, Compliance was always an area that stood out to me and I found it interesting and although complex in the ever-changing business landscape very rewarding!

What does a typical day look like for you?

That saying ‘no two days are the same’ definitely applies to my role, which is part of the reason I enjoy it so much, to be honest. Some typical things I work on are customer compliance requests and obligations, proposals and tender responses, maintaining Nexon’s IMS, compliance portals and various certifications, Change Management along with some operational aspects.

What is your favourite part of your role and why?

Working on Nexon’s IMS and seeking out ways to continuously improve our system. I also enjoy implementing new initiatives in the sustainability, environmental management and social responsibility space.

Where could you or others in your position go from here?

There is always opportunity in the compliance space, particularly if you have an area of interest in which you want to specialise. Progression to a management position and/or subject matter expert is an amazing pathway to explore in compliance.

Could someone with a different professional background transition into your role?

I believe so, but I will say that you must have a genuine interest in and passion for compliance, risk, policy and standards to be fulfilled in this area.

What was the most exciting task/project that you have worked on?

I enjoyed the Equate ISO certification project we completed earlier this year. It was interesting to learn about the business as security specialists and how the systems and processes in place work and fit together.

What are some challenges that you face?

It is a juggling act with lots of different priorities all happening at the same time, most with set timelines to be completed. Time management and prioritising your work (and sticking to it) are critical!

What advice would you give to graduates that are looking to get a career within the IT industry?

The IT industry is a very dynamic industry to work in, regardless of whether you are in a technical role or a business role. It is constantly evolving and progressing and is not slowing down anytime soon!

What sets Nexon apart from other leading Managed Service Providers?

Nexon’s scope of quality services, skills and expertise set us apart.

In your opinion what is the culture like at Nexon?

My personal experience with Nexon culture has been engaging and positive. I have had opportunities to push myself beyond my comfort zone and grow which is very rewarding personally and professionally.

Are there any other comments you would like to share about your employee experience at Nexon?

As I mentioned in Question 11, I have had opportunities that I am very grateful for and strongly believe that (like anything we do in life), you get back what you put in!
