We are a Volvo Penta and Yanmar marine engine dealership, specializing in inboard yacht engines. Over our 30-year history we have developed a team of highly trained technicians, and now have a great opportunity to join our growing team.

We’re searching for an apprentice technician to support our team. The ideal candidate will have a technical aptitude, be motivated to learn and be well presented.

What to expect

Jobs can be at our Spotswood workshop or on-site at marinas around Melbourne. There is a lot of variety in the work, our technicians are comfortable with unfamiliar situations and problem solving. You will support the team to work on a range of jobs covering yacht engine, transmissions and running gear.

The team works closely together to share knowledge and ensure high quality, while each team member takes responsibility for their own tasks and ownership of their work. You will be a clear communicator and well-presented to speak with customers, suppliers and our other stakeholders.

What you’ll do

  • Support technicians testing and troubleshooting marine engines and electrical systems
  • Learn to perform service and repair on engines, transmissions and running gear
  • Learn to make professional documentation of service records and repairs

What you’ll bring

  • Working towards / interest in a trade qualification as a marine mechanic or diesel mechanic
  • Interested to develop a strong hands-on technical skill set
  • Curiosity to learn about boats and engines, and to develop problem solving skills
  • A detail oriented and proactive work ethic
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work with the team, as well as independently on tasks
  • Promote the values of customer orientation, safety, quality and innovation
  • Tools of the trade
  • Current Victoria driver license is an advantage
