Pros and cons of working at Macquarie Technology Group

Pros

  • Great culture. Structured onboarding. Lots of formal and informal training. You can learn from senior engineers as they will mentor you. Flexible shifts. Opportunity to work around your uni timetable. Lots of team and company wide events.

  • The company's commitment to employee development shines through its comprehensive training programs. Offering a wide array of learning opportunities, these training initiatives empower employees to continually upgrade their skills, stay current with industry trends, and excel in their roles, ultimately contributing to both personal and organisational growth. The company's commitment to defining clear and achievable paths for career growth sets it apart. Employees are provided with well-structured advancement opportunities, giving them a roadmap to develop their skills, take on higher responsibilities, and reach their professional goals.

  • There is well defined career progression after the graduate program. The company also offers a lot training and onboarding. As I am still at university in my final year, the company has provided me with flexible work options. I can pick my days and working hours.

  • All coworkers are extremely friendly, they are always welcoming and offer to help when it is needed. There are lots of future pathways offered to you when you begin.

  • The best thing about MCS is the new tech you get to utilise and play with in everyday activities. The management is great and everyone is very supportive!

Cons

    • It's quite fast paced. Lots to learn in a short time but if you can manage your time, you'd be able adapt quickly.

    • Too much to learn. There are things that you will learn that are not covered in your uni curriculum.

    • The HMC team is shift work so the shift hours may not suit all lifestyles. Management is accommodating to your needs in this regards.

    • There is no work from home option

    • You need a lot of knowledge in networking to make an impact, but that isn't an issue if you know the basics
