Early Childhood Teacher position in a 20 place stand alone Kindergarten program, working term-time starting in January 2023. Above award wages, supportive team and non-contact time. Part Time, Fixed Term, with the possibility of extension.

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Early Childhood Teacher to start in January 2023 to run our Thursday and Friday group. Our programs run over two long days from 8:00am to 3:30pm, and we are closed over the school holidays. The role is a fixed term, part-time role that encompasses the following:

  • 40 teaching weeks from January-December
  • 4 days teaching per fortnight (Thursday/Friday)
  • Hours of work – 7:30am to 4:00 pm
  • Contact hours with the children - 8:00am - 3:30pm
  • Additional expectations for community engagement initiatives throughout the year working closely with the Parent Management Committee (BBQs, working bees, meetings, events etc)

The successful candidate will be community and child focussed, and willing to work collaboratively with the staff team and management committee to support quality practice and ongoing improvement.

The role will require the following key skills and experience:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in forming on-going professional relationships with families, colleagues, and stakeholders from the service community.
  • An ability to provide and document a high quality, play based early childhood program that balances play based child-directed learning with teacher-initiated projects and investigations
  • A current understanding of National Quality Framework, Early Childhood Education and Care Legislation and the Assessment and Rating Process.
  • A current understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline.
  • The ability to lead and work collaboratively as a member of a team to deliver high quality programs for children.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and make decisions.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.
  • Must be a team player who has a professional and collaborative approach to work.

The successful applicant will work alongside a teaching assistant and inclusion support team members and will work collaboratively under the guidance of the Nominated Supervisor and Parent Management Committee.

Additionally, the following qualifications are essential for the role:

  • Approved Early Childhood Teacher qualification (must meet ACECQA and QKFS requirements). Please note that we may consider applicants who are working towards an approved Early Childhood Teacher Qualification where they have completed an approved Diploma program/50% of their Early Childhood Bachelor qualification, are making satisfactory progress towards completing the qualification, have experience working in early years setting (preferably with the 3–5-year age group), and will meet and maintain QKFS requirements.
  • Current Suitability Card (Blue Card) or Exemption Card for Registered Teachers
  • Current ECEC based First Aid including Asthma and Anaphylaxis Training or willing to complete
