      Duties and responsibilities for this job include learning food preparation techniques, following chef instructions, storing food supplies, maintaining the kitchen clean and organised, managing food leftovers, portioning food items, and adhering to food hygiene standards.

      Key tasks include but are not limited to:

      • Weigh, measure, mix and prep ingredients according to recipes
      • Steam, grill, boil, bake or fry meats, fish, vegetables and other ingredients
      • Check food and ingredients for freshness
      • Arrange and garnish dishes
      • Prepares foods to the specifications of the client
      • Prepares food before the arrival of guests
      • Makes adjustments to food items to accommodate guests with allergies or specific diet concerns
      • Wash and clean utensils and dishes and ensuring appropriate storage
      • Handle, sort, store and distribute food items
      • Wash, peel, chop, cut and cook foodstuffs and assist with preparing salads and desserts
      • Cleaning of all food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools and areas
      • Meet service standards set by Chef
      • Contribute ideas for exciting menu options
      • Effective management of food production to minimise waste
      • Become competent in the all kitchen processes, including Cleaning, Maintenance, stocktaking
      • Comply with all WH & S policies and procedures
