Kensington Public School OOSH Care (KPS OOSH care) is a non-for profit centre run by a parent management Committee (PMC) located on school grounds. They pride ourselves on our team culture, strong relationship with the school and its community. All of their staff and management at KPS OOSH are inclusive, supportive, social and extremely friendly. KPS OOSH is a positive workplace that values their educators and the hard work they put into our centre for the children. They aim to make a positive difference to the everyday lives of the students who attend our service.

KPS is currently looking to boost our permanent team with another dedicated member of staff. As part of their team, you will be supporting the other educators whilst providing an environment that focus on, fun and engaging learning experiences that the students can use in their everyday life.

Educational leader duties will include:

  • Develop the planning, implementation and evaluation of the program (in consultation with the colleagues, and the Nominated Supervisor.
  • Lead the development of the program and provide support and guidance to other educators as required, to ensure a play-based curriculum is being provided throughout the Service’s program.
  • Oversee and maintain the documentation of observations and journals of the children and ensure that Educators are also doing the same.
  • Know and implement the My Time Our Place Framework in your program and records, including Outcomes, Practices, and Principles.
  • Oversee the implementation of the program in the indoor and outdoor environment promoting commitment to continual improvement to the quality of care and experience each child and family receives.
  • Organise any resource materials, interest areas and general preparation for the centre.
  • Ensure that the program is regularly evaluated and monitored to provide for an interesting and challenging environment (consulting with colleagues to provide variety and input from various children’s perspectives).
  • Provide adequate supervision for the children, and work towards supporting colleagues in achieving the same.
  • Be a passionate educator and strive to achieve our ‘Service Goals’ and ensure our ‘Service Philosophy’ is reflected in daily practice.
  • Assist in the collection, recording and evaluation of children’s records and observations, as required by Department of Education and Communities and the National Quality Standard.
  • Organising vacation care programs and bookings.
  • Collaborating with the children of the our service to implement their ideas and suggestions into the term program and vacation care.
  • Ordering any supplies needed for each weeks program.
  • contributing to and documenting continuous improvements across all aspects of the service in the services Quality Improvement Plan, in collaboration with management.
  • Supporting educators to effectively implement the cycle of planning to enhance programs and practices.

They are looking for an educational leader who:

  • Provides students with activities that are age appropriate, educational and yet engaging.
  • Communicates on various levels with people via various methods.
  • Uses initiative and has a practical common-sense approach.
  • Regards each child’s perspective as unique and special.
  • Has the ability to think on their feet and think creatively.

Essential requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Degree in Early Childhood from a recognised University, or; Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or previous equivalent 3 years’ experience)
  • Have a high understanding and work with the play-based framework, My Time Our Place, that focuses on the social and emotional development of children.
  • OOSH Programming Experience
  • Good understanding of Industry Regulations
  • Understanding of the QIP process
  • Two or more Reference Checks
  • CHCPRT001 - Child Protection – or willing to obtain
  • HLTAID004 - Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting – or willing to obtain
  • WWCC
