This well-established organisation based in Sydney’s Hills District is looking for a positive and driven Internal Salesperson to join their high-performing team. 

As a Hydraulics Fitter within this organisation, the successful candidate will be required to make, install, test, service and repair various hydraulic assemblies including power packs, valves, pumps, conversions, hydraulic cylinders and hose and fitting to customer requirements. This role is responsible for producing machined parts by setting up and operating lathes, milling machines and presses whilst maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

The Role:

The responsibilities of this role include providing effective service to the department to ensure production schedules are maintained by being flexible in approach to daily work requirements. Some work at external locations may be required with installation and testing at customer premises. 

Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Assembly and fitting of power packs, valves, pumps, conversions, hydraulic hose, fittings and accessories, and fluid transfer solutions, including producing and assembling hydraulic and industrial hoses
  • Testing assemblies in the workshop to ensure compliance with standards and accuracy of fit
  • Machine parts to specifications using a variety of machining tools
  • Undertake welding duties as required
  • Test and repair pumps and valves for all manufacturers
  • Install completed assemblies and clients locations
  • Update assembly information sheets
  • Provide advice and guidance to internal and external sales teams
  • Identify component issues and solve issues quickly
  • Ensure all documentation relevant to the particular assembly is in order
  • Perform other duties within capabilities as assigned by the workshop manager
  • Follow quality and OH&S management system procedures
  • Keep workshop and workspace tidy and presentable

Skills & Experience required:

  • Experience working in a similar role as a hydraulics hitter or experience working as a Plant Mechanic
  • Experience in hydraulic fitting and assembly with an understanding of hydraulic systems
  • Trade qualifications as maintenance or hydraulics fitter – fitter and turner
  • Completion of Hydraulics 1 – 4 (Fluid Power Course would be highly desired)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics
  • Knowledge and expertise in the use of a variety of tools
  • Previous installation work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning and organising skills
  • Strong customer service ethic
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and targets
  • Ability to think outside the square for solutions
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Motivated, self-starter and can-do attitude
