Position Purpose
The role of the Mental Health Disability/ Community Support Worker is to provide support to clients that is flexible and individualised and to facilitate client involvement in daily activities and living skills programs across all services.
The role of a Disability Support Worker is to provide assistance to individuals with physical, developmental or cognitive disabilities. You will help individuals with disabilities perform basic hygiene tasks, such as bathing and brushing teeth, in addition to assisting with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning and doing laundry. You will also be responsible for transporting disabled individuals to therapy or doctor appointments and take them shopping and completing other chores.
In addition, you will generally assist in developing and implementing client-specific programs to help these individuals build strong social skills and encourage independence whenever possible. You will be providing support in clients’ homes and within community settings.
You will also need to ensure that you complete case notes/ progress notes every after every shift.
